Welcome to my website!

I’m so glad you dropped in. I’d like to tell you about myself and how I got into this business I call Silks & Images.

My mom was an avid member of the local garden club. As a youngster I tagged along and listened, and then when I was 18 entered my first Standard Flower Show, taking blue ribbons on both of my design entries. As an adult I was also active, both growing plants and flowers as horticulture entries for the shows and entering floral design categories. Twice I was in charge of a Standard Flower Show, designing the Show Schedule and supervising the event. Although not part of an organization now, I am grateful to the Minnesota Federation of State Garden Clubs, and the Richfield Garden Club in particular, for knowledge, fellowship, and many years of fun. Floral design is an art form with rules and challenges, and I love it.

In recent years I have been a volunteer floral designer for a large metro church, and it was this group that encouraged me to make these activities I love into a business. I am a volunteer there because during my regular workweek I’m also a chemistry professor.

So here I am, and I’m happy to work with you to make your home especially beautiful and inviting, with high quality flowers that don’t fade. Remember, I would love to make one for you. If you don’t see what you like, that doesn’t mean I don’t make the kind of arrangement that’s in your mind’s eye.

My other love is the outdoors. My patient spouse enables a large yard that includes a natural prairie garden and a multi-level water garden. Often I capture the outdoors in photos, which can then be enjoyed year-round. Examples of my work are here. Let’s talk. What can I do for you?
